A birds-eye view of the town of San Francisco on Margarita Island...population estimated at 4000, probably half of which are children. It's on Macanao Peninsula, and is the only community not located on the shore. The people are very poor, living on less than a dollar per day. Many of the houses located close to the base of the mountain have vegetable gardens that could really use the water. Annual precipitation averages 525ml...just over 18 ounces (2 cups) of water per year!
