Our Rotary Club has for many years manned a Kettle for the Salvation Army for a day before Christmas at Stone Road Mall. Typically volunteers work 2 hour shifts, and hopefully 2 volunteers per shift. Anyone who has done it in the past will attest to what a wonderful experience it is, as so many of those making contributions to the kettles also share their personal stories and reasons for gladly making the contribution. For 2021 the need is especially acute. COVID-19 has severely and negatively impacted the ability of all charitable organizations to fundraise and has increased the needs in the local community, something that the Salvation Army in particular focuses on. The health and safety of Salvation Army Christmas Kettle volunteers is a top priority. Salvation Army will provide personal protective equipment for all volunteers and will abide by COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines as applicable. A change has been made to the Christmas Kettle Campaign for this year - there will be TipTap machines at each kettle location. The TipTap machines will allow for touchless donations of $5, $10 or $20. Ann Caine oversees the scheduling of the volunteers - she just needs to know who would be available that day. You will be receiving a second email, and if you would like to participate that day (and feel free to include family and friends) check to see what slots are available and quickly and easily sign up there. Ann will be there early to set everything up and will be available the rest of the day in case needed. For 2021 the Christmas Kettle we will be hosting will be located at the Indigo (Chapters) location.
The success of this Christmas campaign relies on the efforts of volunteers like you! Thank you for helping us continue this valuable and enjoyable community service initiative in this "season of giving" |

Dec. 10, 2021 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Join us on Friday December 10th to enjoy Springfield's scrumptious fish & chips, along with some other menu options. Springfield Golf & Country Club has supported us since our Club was first being formed, and we're pleased to support them by holding this fellowship event there. This will be our only chance to spend some time together at Springfield - since March 2020 - as the facility will be closed from mid December through to the end of February 2022. Springfield advises that under the current COVID regulations they can accommodate up to 25 of us for a dinner event, gathering inside. A few have indicated they wouid like to bring their partner. We will do our best to make this happen. We look forward to seeing you on December 10th! |

Winterdance Dogsled Tours
Jan. 27, 2022
Husband & wife team Tanya McCready & Hank DeBruin, owners of Winterdance Dogsled Tours, enjoy sharing their story and building the bridge between the corporate world and their 1000-mile arctic dogsled race one. Their mission is to inspire teams to overcome challenges and reach their goals through improved teamwork, leadership, and vision. Having run the 1000 mile 2010 & 2012 Iditarod and the 1000 mile 2011 & 2014 Yukon Quests (plus many 200-400 mile races) the lessons and insights into how leaders inspire & teams work together to thrive are as vast and unique as the landscapes they have dogsledded through... and the same principles that apply to their huskies also apply to your team. |

Steps to Stop the Silence
Feb. 10, 2022
Fergus Elora Rotary Club member Neil Dunsmore took the first steps to stopping the silence around mental health and suicide by walking 531 km or 330 miles from The Township of Centre Wellington to the nation’s capital Ottawa. When asked why he would take on such a challenge, Dunsmore answered with a typical Rotarian response “It’s about my community! We are 2.7 times the national average for suicide and that’s an issue for me. Someone needs to raise awareness and get this issue on everyone’s radar, the Federal Governments, the Provincial Governments and the service clubs. Our community is in crisis and when a crisis hits, we have no choice but to act. Service above self!” Neil raised over $17000.00 for The Cody Shepperd Project in support of Mental Health and Suicide Awareness in his community. |

Classification Talk
Feb. 17, 2022
Rotary has always had a long-standing tradition of asking new members to give a “classification talk” – to tell a story to introduce themselves. Every Rotarian has a story. Why you joined, why you stay, how your involvement, your service, or your friends add to your life – it’s all there. Why tell it? Because it gives the members a chance to learn about what Rotary means to you, strengthen your bonds with other Rotarians and deepen your club’s sense of community. Shelley joined our Rotary Club in July 2021 and we are looking forward to hearing her story. |
