Aug. 24, 2021 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
This newly formed Committee has a mission to raise awareness of, and prevent, the crisis of Human Trafficking within our local and global community through action and education. "Educate to Eradicate".
August 24 2021, 7:00pm: In this second session of our series, you will be hearing from Karly Church, who is a Crisis Intervention Counsellor at a regional support service for victims of human trafficking, and who has spoken for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Karly gives talks at schools, particularly with grade nine students, and with politicians on this issue. She teams up with the Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the regional police force, and often intervenes and talks to individuals who are being trafficked. But this wasn’t always her job. She knows what she is talking about because she is a human trafficking survivor. She will be sharing her powerful story of how she came from a small town, with a seemingly normal family to being trafficked in the sex trade. REGISTRATION IN ADVANCE REQUIRED - USE THE LINK (BELOW) TO REGISTER AFTER WHICH A CONFIRMATION EMAIL WILL BE SENT WITH INFORMATION ON JOINING THE VIRTUAL MEETING ON AUGUST 24th:

Living with Lyme Disease
Aug. 26, 2021
Erin grew up in Norfolk County, and playing in the fields she was exposed to ticks and developed a range of symptoms that went undiagnosed as Lyme Disease for many years. Doctors were unable/unwilling to accept that the symptoms were Lyme Disease. She has since become an advocate for testing and getting the disease recognized in Canada. The disease is not recognized by Health Canada and the lack of recognition makes data collection and treatment difficult. Climate change has expanded the range of ticks which allows the tick population to thrive and more northward in Canada. |

The Smith’s were finally given a diagnosis of autism but testing and treatments were experimental at that time. This is their story of living with autism...the good, the bad, and the ugly. |

Sep. 23, 2021 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Join us for an in-person breakfast fellowship meeting! We have arranged for the meeting room at Symposium Cafe in Guelph, a capacity of 20 persons maximum (5 tables of 4 persons per table). They don't open for breakfast until 8:00am so our meeting will start and end one half hour later than usual. All COVID regulatiions will be in effect - for example, as of September 22nd everyone attending will need to bring proof of vaccination and wear a mask when not seated at the table. People will be responsible for their own breakfast, and you can review their menu at symposiumcafe.com - lots of good breakfast selections! There won't be a formal agenda, this is meant to provide an opportunity for club members to gather in person and share fellowship, something that hasn't been easily available for more than a year! Sharron will give us an update on the November fundraiser.
Because of the restriction on the number of those attending it is important that we know ahead of time who will be attending. Please either "accept" or "decline" as soon as possible, thank you!

September 28 2021, 7:00pm:
In this third session of our Building Awareness of Human Trafficking project, we have brought together three service providers who provide support and help to survivors of human trafficking.
Luisa Krause is the Director of Elora House, an agency that provides short-term housing and support to women exploited by sex trafficking, helping them to make healthy and informed decisions about their lives.
Kevin Coghill is the Executive Director and Pastor at the Royal City Mission where they provide meals to the vulnerable, working to make the invisible visible in our community.
Nicky Carswell is the Co-ordinator of the Anti-Human Trafficking Program at the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC) where a trauma-informed, harm reduction, and feminist approach is provided.
Through this panel presentation we will learn more about what each organization offers to survivors of human trafficking, and how as a community we can support the organizations in an effective way.

20th Anniversary Celebration - Tree Planting at Sunrise
Oct. 14, 2021
On October 14th we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of our charter by planting 20 trees along a walkway at Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre in Puslinch. Our Environment Committee is taking the lead on this, arranging for the supply of the trees and the preparation of the site, including digging the holes for the plantings...always a challenge in Puslinch Township, famous for its rocky soils! This will be an opportunity for the club members and invited guests to meet in person, subject as always to COVID-related provincial regulations. |

Oct. 14, 2021 7:45 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
We will be holding an in-person 20th Anniversary Celebration meeting at Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre. As a way of celebrating the 20th anniversary of our being chartered as a Rotary Club, our Environment Committee has arranged for the planting of 20 trees along a walkway there. Our starting time will be slightly later to allow for sunrise, and we will be having a light breakfast. Springfield was delighted to be able to participate and has agreed to cater the breakfast for the meeting. The cost is estimated to be $10 per person. In order to provide Springfield with the number of breakfasts required we are asking you to please respond by no later than noon on Thursday October 7th if you are attending. We will be inviting some guests to also attend. All COVID-19 safeguards will be observed, and Sunrise has a rain plan in place for us in case Mother Nature doesn't cooperate that morning. We are grateful to the members of the 20th Anniversary and Environment Committees for planning the celebration and for making the arrangements for the supply and installation of the trees - truly a "green" celebration of our 20th anniversary! |

The Guelph Cluster Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday October 20th in the evening, from 6:30-9:30pm. Dec. 04, 2021 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Our Rotary Club has for many years manned a Kettle for the Salvation Army for a day before Christmas at Stone Road Mall. Typically volunteers work 2 hour shifts, and hopefully 2 volunteers per shift. Anyone who has done it in the past will attest to what a wonderful experience it is, as so many of those making contributions to the kettles also share their personal stories and reasons for gladly making the contribution. For 2021 the need is especially acute. COVID-19 has severely and negatively impacted the ability of all charitable organizations to fundraise and has increased the needs in the local community, something that the Salvation Army in particular focuses on. The health and safety of Salvation Army Christmas Kettle volunteers is a top priority. Salvation Army will provide personal protective equipment for all volunteers and will abide by COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines as applicable. A change has been made to the Christmas Kettle Campaign for this year - there will be TipTap machines at each kettle location. The TipTap machines will allow for touchless donations of $5, $10 or $20. Ann Caine oversees the scheduling of the volunteers - she just needs to know who would be available that day. You will be receiving a second email, and if you would like to participate that day (and feel free to include family and friends) check to see what slots are available and quickly and easily sign up there. Ann will be there early to set everything up and will be available the rest of the day in case needed. For 2021 the Christmas Kettle we will be hosting will be located at the Indigo (Chapters) location.
The success of this Christmas campaign relies on the efforts of volunteers like you! Thank you for helping us continue this valuable and enjoyable community service initiative in this "season of giving" |

Dec. 10, 2021 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Join us on Friday December 10th to enjoy Springfield's scrumptious fish & chips, along with some other menu options. Springfield Golf & Country Club has supported us since our Club was first being formed, and we're pleased to support them by holding this fellowship event there. This will be our only chance to spend some time together at Springfield - since March 2020 - as the facility will be closed from mid December through to the end of February 2022. Springfield advises that under the current COVID regulations they can accommodate up to 25 of us for a dinner event, gathering inside. A few have indicated they wouid like to bring their partner. We will do our best to make this happen. We look forward to seeing you on December 10th! |

Winterdance Dogsled Tours
Jan. 27, 2022
Husband & wife team Tanya McCready & Hank DeBruin, owners of Winterdance Dogsled Tours, enjoy sharing their story and building the bridge between the corporate world and their 1000-mile arctic dogsled race one. Their mission is to inspire teams to overcome challenges and reach their goals through improved teamwork, leadership, and vision. Having run the 1000 mile 2010 & 2012 Iditarod and the 1000 mile 2011 & 2014 Yukon Quests (plus many 200-400 mile races) the lessons and insights into how leaders inspire & teams work together to thrive are as vast and unique as the landscapes they have dogsledded through... and the same principles that apply to their huskies also apply to your team. |
