The Rotary Club of Guelph South hosted its 6th Annual "Taste of Italy" Pasta Dinner, held annually at the Puslinch Community Centre in Aberfoyle that featured a tasty meal, friendly table service, a silent auction and penny raffle.

Club Fundraising Director Celia Clarka and her team, along with Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre, had everything running like clockwork - a well oiled machine!  It's a lot of work to organize, even when you have years of experience behind you, and there's a lot of last-minute shopping, organizing and cooking that needs to be done.  That's where it's so important to partner with the recipient organization for the extra hands, and Sunrise and its supporters were there in full force.

As a volunteer, it was gratifying to hear all of the positive comments from the community members who attended.  The leftover pasta sauce that was offered for sale was snapped up - guests were lining up looking to buy some before it ran out!

The event was not the sell-out that we had expected but hopefully we will still raise close to the $4,000 anticipated that will be donated to Sunrise.

It was gratifying to experience the camaraderie that comes with a group of people working together toward a common goal - we had a wonderful turnout of club members (and their families even, in some cases!) and there was a lot of fun and laughing, along with a lot of hard work for a good cause.  That's what makes us a Rotary club and Rotarians, as opposed to a group of people who just meet for breakfast once a week....

So thanks to everyone that sold tickets, donated or secured silent auction/raffle prizes, organized and worked so hard at the event!  It was a job well done, and you should be proud of your efforts.  As one of our 2 major fundraising events during the year - and the one specifically targeted to our Puslinch market - it is important that we continue to support and grow it.
