The Rotary Club of Guelph South awarded its first "Four Avenues of Service" Award to Charter Member and Past President (twice!) Margaret Nixon at a special awards dinner on September 21 2009 at the Springfield Golf & Country Club....

This award can only be awarded once per year by any club, can only be awarded to a Rotarian once, and is awarded by Rotary International following the formal application and justification by the Club's President as to the worthiness of the recipient for the award.

Margaret has served our Club in many capacities since we were chartered, including as President twice.  She has been participated in most, if not all, of the community service functions that we have been involved in.  She has been involved with the Camp Enterprise (vocational service) program.  And she has gone to Mexico twice, at her own expense, as part of the District 7080 Christmas Shoebox Program, and serves on their organizing Committee.  She is also part of the organizing Committee for the District 7080 Conference being held in Guelph this year.

President Karen Dowell (2008-2009) submitted her nomination for Margaret during her term and the award was recently approved by Rotary International, and the club was proud to present it to her on September 21st.

Congratulations Margaret and thank you for your ongoing contribution to our Club, to District 7080 and Rotary International.
