HONOURARY CHAIR FOR 2007 SPELLING BEE
We are pleased to announce that acclaimed author Jean Little has agreed to serve as the Honourary Chair for our 2nd Annual Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee that will be held on Thursday October 25 2007 at the Guelph Place Banquet Hall....
Jean Little is the award-winning author of forty-four books for children. Her picture books include Once upon a Golden Apple and Revenge of the Small Small. Her novel Willow and Twig won the Mr. Christie Book Award, His Banner Over Me won the 1996 Violet Downey Book Award, and Gruntle Piggle Takes Off was nominated for a Governor General's Award for illustration. Her work has been translated into eighteen languages. She lives in Guelph, Ontario.
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JEAN LITTLE:
If you want to be a champion Scrabble player, to polish off crossword puzzles easily, to write memos that don't make people laugh at your errors, to write intelligent love letters - learn to spell! Spelling well is great for the ego. I don't need to waste valuable time on a spell checker. But then, my grandmother bragged all her long life about the day she spelled down all the boys in a Spelling Bee when she was twelve. Good spelling and ego run in the family.
