Rotary Club holiday auction raises money for multiple charities

NEWS RELEASE
ROTARY CLUB OF GUELPH SOUTH

For the entire month of November, the Rotary Club of Guelph South is hosting a Holiday Online Auction in support of the club’s fundraising initiatives. With great care, the fundraising committee has assembled a collection of items guaranteed to satisfy every taste. From 'experiences' such as a Snowshoe Adventure in Collingwood to rock climbing, a plethora of great goodies for your fur babies, home decor, holiday decorations, gift certificates to several local restaurants, and more, there are so many interesting and delicious items from which to choose – even four gorgeous nutcrackers not offered in the 2020 Nutcracker Auction.

“From the very popular Nutcracker auction in 2020 that raised over $8,000 for a number of local and international charities we support, we are now in the middle of our Holiday Online Auction to bring Holiday season gift giving to Guelph and surrounding areas”, says Martin Litchfield, club president. “Our goal is to raise (over) $9,000 from this initiative, and as of Nov. 17, we are halfway there. Our fundraising committee has worked together to bring over 122 unique items to not only catch your eye, but that would make excellent gifts for your friends and family.”

With the help of our presenting sponsors, local business, fellow Rotarians and community members, the club has curated a unique selection of auction items to satisfy every budget. All proceeds raised from the auction will support charities locally and internationally. “Rotary Club of Guelph South has supported many local and international causes such as Elora House, Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Centre, Wyndham House, Children’s Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, emergency flood relief in BC, humanitarian and emergency relief in Ukraine, and others,” adds Litchfield. “And stay tuned to our website as we’ll be announcing even more local charitable organizations we are supporting.”

To add an exciting twist to the Holiday Online Auction, Rotary Guelph South will be introducing 12 days of Christmas sale. Each of the 12 days will see the introduction of one cute Christmas gift at a special price. It will be lots of fun to check the site daily to see the new additions as well as to view the great items already online.

The Rotary Club of Guelph South is still welcoming other Rotarians and community members to participate as a donor, sponsors and, of course, a bidder. “This is a great opportunity to pick up a gift for a loved one or indulge in bidding on an item for yourself,” says the club’s fundraising committee.

To bid, visit this website. To submit an item or donate to help us meet our $9,000 goal, please contact Sharron Riley-Persson at wrlwnd@sympatico.ca.

Bidding on the auction officially closes on Nov. 30 at noon.
