One of the highest profile programs associated with The Rotary Foundation is the End Polio Now program, a global initiative to eliminate polio forever.  Started in 1985 by Rotary and now a partnership of Rotary International, the Centre for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, we are "thisclose" to achieving our goal.  Only 3 countries - Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan - still have reported polio cases, and even those have drastically reduced in numbers.  Our goal is to ensure that no other child ever has to endure the the disease and the debilitating and often times fatal effects of it.
