On December 4th the Rotary Club of Guelph South welcomed sponsors and team members from the 2008 "Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee", along with other guests, to a special weekly club meeting in the "Pines" room at the Springfield Golf & Country Club...

During the meeting there was a special presentation of $7,600 to Playsense Activity Centre (part of Hopewell Children's Homes) representing 50% of the proceeds from the 2008 "Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee".  (The other 50% will support other worthwhile Rotary projects.)

Playsense Activity Centre, located in the Shelldale Centre in Guelph, has a goal of obtaining a virtual reality system to facilitate recreational opportunities for physically and developmentally challenged children and young people in the Guelph and Wellington County area.  Program Director Karen Calzonetti did a presentation on the centre, its programs, and how beneficial such technology will be for the program participants.

Rotary Club of Guelph South has been pleased to have supported Playsense through the proceeds of its annual adult Spelling Bee, held in late October of each year.
